AGWO has proven itself as an organizer for homes for poor people. You all know the value of food, water, a house, and other necessities. But people who live in slums crave all these facilities. Their whole life passes away in fighting for getting their necessities. AGWO NGO helps them by providing them with necessities.
There is a very famous quote from Mahatma Gandhi that states: –
“India lives in the villages.”
That statement is as true today as it was more than 60 years ago. Nearly 70% of India’s 1.1 billion-plus population still lives in 600,000 or so villages. If India is to be truly understood, it is the lives of these people that count.
According to the Indian government and the World Bank, less than 30% of the nation is poor. 70% of the poor (225 million) live in villages. These official statistics are decided on a per capita consumption expenditure of Rs. 356 per month, or Rs. 11.70 per day.
Don’t you think what you will buy with much less money in this inflated time? This is the main reason for the deterioration of the living quality of slum-dwellers.
Organizer for homes help poor families by providing monthly rations and a daily meal. This helps them in their better survival and growth. We visited many villages and we found that most of the family in slums earns less than Rs. 100 in a day. Means on a whole in a month they hardly earn Rs. 3000. This is not at all enough to meet the monthly requirement. This is the picture of almost all slum-dwellers living in any part of India.
