Health Organization Creating Awareness About Pneumonia Day

World Health Organization

A health organization is promoting Pneumonia Awareness Day. Pneumonia is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused most commonly by a virus or bacteria. The lungs are an important part of our body and are linked to our immune system. Certainly AGWO, a health organization, is raising awareness about Pneumonia Day today. Even though it is curable and preventable, this disease is the leading cause of death in children under the age of five. This deadly disease claimed the lives of 2.5 million people worldwide, with 672000 children dying as a result in 2019.

But the effects of climate change, pollution, and covid are adding fuel to the fire. Thus making the life situation worse for the millions at risk of death. Additionally the statistics for 2021 post-COVID are even more startling for the world, as the death toll from this infectious disease will have surpassed 6 million.

The health organization is concerned because it endangers the lives of the elderly and young people. They are unable to protect themselves from the disease. This is due to a decline in vaccination rates, rising malnutrition, a food shortage, and the use of polluting fuel in homes, which reduces lung capacity. Every 45 seconds, at least one child dies, according to UNICEF. They warn the health organization that failing to take measurable precautions will result in more deaths soon.

Older people who are exposed to pollutants, particularly those emitted by the combustion of fossil fuels and smoke, are at a higher risk. Over 1.6 million people over the age of 50 died as a result of air pollution and smoking.

AGWO Health Organization Helps Children Breathe Healthy

AGWO, a health organization that is working for the vulnerable and slum people are facilitating them to provide the best healthcare facility. To diminish the ill effect of air pollution and other hazardous factors. India has the highest population of younger children under the age of 14 years. Pneumonia is the leading cause of death in the mortality of children around the globe. It accounts for 20% of the death rate, which is higher than any other country worldwide.

Basically, our NGO is working to provide proper nutritious and healthy food to the children. Healthy food is directly linked to a healthy immune system. The calorie intake for the child is different according to different parameters. A toddler needs 1200-1400 calories per day, whereas a teenager needs 2000-2800 calories per day. Even after the GDP of India is growing at the pace of 50% and over 33 lakh children are also in malnourishment condition. India loses its 4% GDP and 8% of its productivity due to malnutrition.

Keeping this in mind AGWO a health organization provides nutritious food which will help vulnerable children to overcome Pneumonia. India accounts for 23% of cases’ overall burden and the case fatality is between 14% to 30%. Lower middle-income group families are the most impacted group of people.

If you want to help these people you can contribute to the cause of upheaval in their life . Doing charity for the same cause to provide them with the best medical facilities to get their body revived.

We have seen during covid the cases of pneumonia also increased as both are respiratory diseases which impact lungs. The children below the age of 5 years are the most affected.

History of World Pneumonia Day

In 2009, the Global Coalition Against Childhood Pneumonia observed the first World Pneumonia Day. Their goal was to raise public awareness about the severity of pneumonia and to work together to bring global attention to the underserved condition of pneumonia. Afterwards the first World Pneumonia Day in 2009, the Day has been observed with the general motto “Healthy Lungs for All.” Modifications to the motto themed around running campaigns included giving proper illness prevention and making treatment centers accessible to those with the disease.

It was killing approximately 1.2 million children each year in the year that the first World Pneumonia Day was witnessed. After four years of remembrance this day at

AGWO Health Organization  Explaining World Pneumonia Day Importance

Comparatively Pneumonia is a chronic inflammation respiratory illness caused by the discharge of air sacs inside the lungs. Concurrently, this is particularly severe in children under the age of five and individuals who are over 65.

However, the unexpected COVID invasion has contributed to the 6 lakh deaths from respiratory infectious disease in 2021. Despite taking preventive measure it was making it one of the worst respiratory crises in the historical record and pouring billions at risk of becoming infected and death.

However, to combat the risk of pneumonia infection and to reduce the toll caused by a lack of awareness about respiratory infection. Altogether World Pneumonia Day plays an important role in bringing organizations together on a single platform. To create the opportunity to make this preventable infectious disease accessible to all sections of society. As long as the days encourage various public and private organizations to contribute.

Certainly there are over 30 potential causes of this infection, which can be potentially lethal if not treated promptly. However, this infection causes an inflammatory response in the lungs’ air sacs, known as alveoli, which fills with fluid and makes breathing difficult. However, Pneumonia symptoms can include a low – grade fever, a dry cough, chills, shortness of breath, chest pain, and a loss of appetite. Pneumococcal pneumonia is the most widespread form of bacterial pneumonia.
